Curious about the Napa Sonoma ADU Center?

The mission of the Napa Sonoma ADU Center is to help homeowners build ADUs.

We began our work to launch the ADU Center by conducting a series of surveys, data gathering, and focus groups with city and county staff, builders and architects, as well as homeowners who have built ADUs or are interested in building one in the future.

This information has helped shape the Napa Sonoma ADU Center website and the tools and resources you see on the website today, including the ADU Workbook, ADU Calculator, Address Lookup Tool, and local City Rules Tool. It also spotlights your Napa and Sonoma County neighbors who have built ADUs.

At the Napa Sonoma ADU Center, we believe that by building an ADU, you’re investing in the future of your community. ADUs not only benefit homeowners, but help the community as well. Building ADUs helps to address the housing challenges in Napa and Sonoma Counties, and ADUs often provide homes for school teachers, firefighters, and other community members who otherwise may have to commute long distances from outside Napa and Sonoma Counties to find a home they can afford.

With many people still displaced from the fires and still more hard hit by the economic and health implications of the COVID-19 crisis, building and renting an ADU is not only a smart way to invest in your own future, it is also a community service.

The Napa Sonoma ADU Center is a fiscally-sponsored project of Napa Valley Community Foundation and support comes from Napa Valley Community Foundation, Community Foundation Sonoma County, Tipping Point Community, and others. The Cities of Napa and Calistoga as well as the County of Napa have also contributed to make it possible for us to create our ADU workbook, website, and other helpful resources for homeowners ready to take action to build an ADU.
