There’s no denying that a large initial upfront investment plus knowledge and resources are needed to make it through the ADU building process. That’s why everyone from the President of the United States to our small nonprofit, the Napa Sonoma ADU Center, is working to smooth the path for homeowners to more easily afford and build ADUs.

Worried about how you can afford an ADU?
Napa Valley Community Foundation and the Napa Sonoma ADU Center partnered with Redwood Credit Union to launch a new ADU construction loan product that opens up financing for homeowners who may not otherwise have the income or equity needed to finance an ADU. By next month, we’re hoping RCU will be an approved lender with CalHFA, making it possible for homeowners to marry the ADU loan with CalHFA’s new $40,000 ADU pre-development grant.
Although we can’t prevent the hurdles you’ll likely encounter when building your ADU, we are here to help you overcome those challenges, and maybe even help you have some fun while we are at it!
