Marian built a Junior ADU on her existing property for her to move into, which allowed her to rent her main unit for rental. Her new setup brings in income and provides housing to her community, which saw the lost of 6,000 homes following the fires.


Xinia’s Story: An affordable option for living and working in Napa

Xinia moved to Napa Valley as a teenager with her family and wished to continue living and working in the community she called home. An ADU is providing her with an affordable option that allows her to live on her own instead of needing to leave the Valley.


Erica’s Story: Building an ADU for mom in Santa Rosa

Erica and her partner were evaluating options for Erica’s mom, who was commuting 1,000 miles per month due to not being able to find affordable housing in Santa Rosa. Ultimately, building an ADU on their property gave Erica’s mom her own space while keeping her close to her daughter and grandchildren and removing her timely and costly commute, which allows her to live and work in the community.


Dena and Tor’s Story: Flexible options for the family

Dena and Tor needed a flexible property in Sebastopol that could be used for an aging parent as well as a place for their business. Their difficulty with finding something in the right location at a price they could afford led them to build a detached ADU on their own property that is primarily solar-powered.
